Sustainable recovery of critical metals (CM) from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in the European Union (EU) requires information for detailed analysis, monitoring and decision-making. Related knowledge is currently insufficient or disseminated through the network of stakeholders...
Assessment of Urban Air Quality using Geo Spatial Techniques for Sustainable Development: Case of Tirupur, India
Air pollution and health
Rapid urbanisation, industrialization, and population growth have fostered an urgent need for a green, clean-living environment. Among the many pollutants, gaseous pollutants like NO2, SO2, and particle pollutants like PM 2.5 and PM 10 have a profound negative impact on human health. In this...
Environment friendly sustainable concrete produced from marble waste powder
Environmental management and policy
Concrete is an indispensable construction material renowned for its versatility and durability, yet its traditional components pose significant environmental challenges. The cement industry is a major emitter of CO2, while the extensive extraction of natural aggregates depletes finite resources. In...
Sustainable research and development of the small uninhabited islands: the case of Ionian Oinoisses
General
It is acceptable that the uninhabited islands of small size, due to their isolation from the mainland, offer remarkable habitats for the distribution and conservation of significant protected flora and fauna species. Many of these islands hosted in the past settlements, castles, etc., that now have...
Economic incentives in sustainable water management: a Risk-Based Decision Analysis approach for determining groundwater pollution charges under uncertainty
Water and wastewater treatment and reuse
A risk-based decision analysis methodology is presented, that can be used as a water policy tool in the design of economic incentive instruments, under conditions of uncertainty. A contaminated groundwater resource system with unknown hydrogeological parameters is used as a case study. The polluter...
Effect of zinc industrial waste on the mechanical and microstructural properties of the ternary blended concrete
