The Global NEST Journal invites submissions for a Special Issue on “Advancing Waste Valorization Techniques for Sustainable Energy and Bioproducts.” This issue aims to highlight recent scientific and technological advances in the conversion of waste materials into valuable products and renewable energy, contributing to the transition towards a circular and resource-efficient economy.
Scope and Topics
This Special Issue will include selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the 19th International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology (CEST2025), which was held in Kos Island, Greece from 3 to 6 September 2025 as well as contributions from leading experts in the field. The conference was organized by the Global Network of Environmental Science and Technology jointly with the University of the Aegean (Greece), the University of Salerno (Italy), and the Open University of Cyprus (Cyprus).
High-quality research and review articles will be published focusing on innovative waste valorization processes, technologies, and applications.

- Biological and thermochemical waste-to-energy conversion pathways
- Bioproducts from waste feedstocks
- Biogas
- Biofuels
- Hydrogen
- Bioplastics
- Biodegradable materials
- Fermentation and enzymatic processes
- Bioplastics and biodegradable materials from waste valorization
- Recovery of nutrients and critical raw materials from waste
- Life-cycle assessment and environmental sustainability of valorization technologies
Submission Guidelines
Manuscripts must be prepared according to the Global NEST Journal author guidelines (https://journal.gnest.org/journal/gnest/p/instructions-for-authors).
Authors should first register (create an account) to the Global NEST Journal’s website and login to be able to submit their manuscripts. During the submission process they should select the special issue with the title “Advancing Waste Valorization Techniques for Sustainable Energy and Bioproducts.”

- Submission deadline: 28 February 2026
All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies. The final acceptance of the manuscripts will be subjected to the decision of the peer review panel and editors.
