The work presented in this paper has significant impact on the use...
The Carbon Footprint of a Public Sector University Before and During the COVID-19 Lockdown.
General
Carbon footprint (CF) is a measure of greenhouse gas emissions generated from daily human-induced activities as carbon dioxide equivalent. This study is an attempt to represent a consumption-based CF study from the scope of transportation, electricity, and waste generation for University of the...
Statistical predictors of hazardous medical waste generation rates in a 40-bed general hospital
General
Objective of the work was to investigate correlations among hazardous medical waste generation rates and various hospital parameters in 2 departments and a clinic of a 40-bed Hellenic general hospital (Hospital of Ikaria). Medical waste was recorded at the bio-pathology lab, the pathology clinic and...
Prediction of Gas Emission and Derived Electrical Power Generation from Shiraz Landfill
Sustainable Energy
Landfilling has been considered as the most common method for solid waste disposal in developing countries which is faced with several issues, such as gas emission. Methane as a greenhouse gas is the main landfill gas which could be applied as a fuel for electrical power plants. In this study, the...
Hybrid solar - biomass plants for power generation; technical and economic assessment
General
Environmental, economic and strategic reasons are behind the rapid impulse in the deployment of renewable energy sources that is taking place around the world. In addition to overcoming economic and commercial barriers, meeting the ambitious objectives set by most countries in this field will...
Characterization and evaluation of treatability of wastewater generated in Khuzestan livestock slaughterhouses and assessing of their wastewater treatment systems
Water and wastewater treatment and reuse
Slaughterhouse wastewaters are characterized by a high organic content, mainly composed of proteins and fats. Therefore, these wastewaters should be treated efficiently prior to discharge into receiving bodies to avoid severe environmental pollution. This work aimed to characterize slaughterhouse...
Degradation of phenol in wastewater using anolyte produced from electrochemical generation of brine solution
General
This paper presents the degradation of phenol in wastewater using anolyte, which is generated from electrochemical activation process. Anolyte consists of reactive ions and free radicals, which contribute to its oxidizing behavior. The optimum conditions, which facilitate a complete degradation of...
Electricity generation and atmospheric pollution: The role of solid fuels gasification
General
Electricity generation in solid fuel fired power stations is currently the main source of flying particulates and greenhouse gases emissions. Environmental pollution is expected to deteriorate dramatically in the coming century unless pollution abatement technologies for solid fuels energy...
Ground level concentrations of hydrocarbon emissions from diesel fuelled electric power generators
Air pollution and health
ISC-Aermod view dispersion model has been used to study the ground level concentration of hydrocarbon (HC). The purpose was to predict the air quality effects from off-grid diesel power generators operated by a textile factory in Lagos, Nigeria on its host airshed. Emissions from 22 point sources in...
Use of alternative fuels obtained from renewable sources in Brayton cycles
