A STUDY OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF AIR POLLUTION ON HUMAN HEALTH: PM DEPOSITION MODELLING
Air pollution and health
Earth is consisting of land, air and water. Air contains oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, other gases are present above the permissible limit, and it creates effects on human health. It is one of the most important public health issues due to development of urbanization...
Comparison of particle emissions from enclosed parking garages and streets
Air pollution and health
The aim of this study was to compare particulate matter (PM) pollutants performed at three different enclosed parking garages (A, B and C) and two streets (1 and 2) in Belgium. Particle mass concentrations, number concentrations and their size distributions were measured in real time using an...
Flux enhancement by air dispersion in cross-flow microfiltration of a colloidal system through spiral wound module
General
Enhancement of the permeate flux due to reduction of cake layer resistance by air-liquid twophase flow in a cross flow spiral wound microfiltration membrane has been investigated. Experiments were carried out with two different suspension systems, namely baker’s yeast suspension with a dry mass...
Temporal variations of Eastern Black Sea Aerosol
Environmental Sciences
In this study, chemical composition of coarse (PM2.5-10) and fine (PM2.5) aerosols and their seasonal characteristics was used to investigate factors affecting seasonal variations in concentrations of species. Concentrations of 17 trace elements and SO42- were determined in coarse and fine aerosol...
Removal of heavy metals (Cu, Cd and Zn) from contaminated soils using EDTA and FeCl3
Pollution Control Technology
Environmental pollution caused by heavy metals from different industrial activities constitutes a serious risk for the environment. Soils contaminated with metals, such as Cu, Cd and Zn, are often subjected to physical or chemical remediation procedures to purify soils from these metals. Typical...
High Strength Geopolymers Produced from Coal Combustion Fly Ash
General
High strength geopolymers were produced from coal combustion fly ashes. These matrices reached compressive strength values over 100 MPa, much stronger and denser than obtained by using Portland Cement binders. Size fractions were obtained by size separation techniques and the relationship between...
Treatment and valorisation of stormwater sediments
General
The objective of this research is to show how sediment micro-pollution, including heavy metals, hydrocarbons and PAHs, can be reduced by means of a physical treatment based on screening and attrition. The study was carried out on five stormwater sediments, the developed pilot unit allows to isolate...
Nitrate pollution in the coastal aquifer system of the Korinthos Prefecture (Greece)

The effect of restricted human activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Rabat city (Morocco) was studied, by analysing data of five criteria pollutants (NO, NO2, PM2.5, PM10, and O3) to highlight the effectiveness of restricted emissions on air quality. Overall, drastic reductions on NO (up to −94...
Purification of waste water from cationic dye using SPGMA polymer: Isotherm and Kinetic study
Water and wastewater treatment and reuse
One of the known methods for dye removing from waste water is using sorbent material for fine removal of dye .The nano- cation exchanger Sulphonated poly glycidyl methacrylate (SPGMA polymer) was used as sorbent material for removing one of the common cationic dyes. SPGMA polymer was prepared and...
