Prof. Paolo S. Calabrò: graduated cum laude in Civil Engineering at the University of Reggio Calabria (Italy) in 1996, in the year 2003 earned a Ph. D. in Hydraulic Engineering from the University of Catania (Italy). Between 2006 and 2015 he was assistant Professor and since 2015 Associated Professor in Sanitary Environmental Engineering at Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria. He founded and currently leads the Sanitary Environmental Engineering Laboratory of the same University. He teaches several courses in the field of wastewater treatment and of solid waste treatment and management. In May 2016 was visiting professor at the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece) and since 2020 is Adjunct Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Toronto Metropolitan University, Toronto (Canada). Since 2021 he is Editor-in-Chief for the “Waste and Recycling” Section of Sustainability and since 2023 Associated Editor og Global NEST Journal. His main research interests include integrated solid waste management with a focus on biorefining, anaerobic digestion, contaminated groundwater treatment by Fe0. He his author/coauthor of about 100 papers published in International Journals and is listed in the top 2% of cited academics worldwide.
