A. Nikolaou has studied Environmental Sciences at the University of the Aegean, Greece (1997) and has followed her PhD thesis on the occurrence of disinfection by-products in drinking water at the Sector of Environmental Engineering, Department of Environment, University of the Aegean (2001). From 2001 to 2004 she worked as a post-doc at the Water and Air Quality Laboratory, Department of the Environment, University of the Aegean where she still remains as a Scientific Collaborator. She has worked as an adjunct lecturer in Environmental Sciences (2003-2004) at the Department of Financial and Management Studies and at “Theofrasteio” MSc Program, Department of Environment, University of the Aegean. From 2003 up to 2005 she worked as environmentalist at the Environmental Division, Ministry of the Aegean. In September 2005 she became a lecturer at the Department of Marine Sciences, University of the Aegean and since April 2010 she has been an assistant professor at the same Department. Her research interests include the development and validation of analytical methods for the determination of priority pollutants in water, wastewater and sediment samples. She still remains strongly interested to the quality of water working among others with the disinfection by-products. She has participated in several National and European Research Projects focusing on the monitoring of water pollution especially for toxic organic compounds. She is editor of 2 volumes, coauthor of 12 book chapters, and coauthor of over 60 publications in referred journals and over 70 publications in international conference proceedings. She has been selected as referee of papers for more than 30 scientific journals.
