Since 2007, Hrissi K. Karapanagioti has joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras, initially as a Lecturer Professor and currently, since January 2013, as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry with emphasis on liquid pollution. In 2012, she spent two months as a Visiting Professor in the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Newcastle University, UK. Since 2007, she also works as an Adjunct Professor in Waste Management Graduate Program at Hellenic Open University and since 2011, she also works as a part time Level B Teacher Trainer for the Hellenic Pedagogical Institute. Since 2003, almost yearly she joins the Expert Panels of Environment or Materials for reviewing research proposals for the EU 6th and 7th Framework Program European Commission, and since 2010, she works as Research Program Evaluator for the 7th Framework Program European Commission, EU, Brussels, Belgium.
She is the vice-president of a regional IWA conference and has participated as co-convener of international conferences for EGU (Vienna), SIDISA (Milan), and NOAA (Hawaii) and national conferences for the University of Patras.
Hrissi K. Karapanagioti has participated in 15 international and national research programs. She is co-author of 37 publications in the fields of environmental chemistry in referred journals including a recent publication in Nature and more than 70 presentations in conferences or invited talks. She is member of the editorial board of Journal of Contaminant Hydrology.
