An evaluation of the Ganga river’s carbon flow and its impact on India’s nutritional and climate change
Hydrology and Water Resources Management
Changes in weather patterns and the global climate are a result of global warming, which has been linked to rising carbon dioxide concentrations. Understanding the mechanisms on earth that have an impact on atmospheric carbon concentrations and its cycling—collectively referred to as the "Carbon...
A new method of nowcasting wildfires and impacts: a case study for the USA
Environmental management and policy
In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the intensity and frequency of wildfires worldwide mainly due to the escalating climate crisis and land-use change. Wildfires result in a decline in air quality and cause damage to property, crops, resources, wildlife, and human lives. Since...
Spatial-temporal evolution and influencing factors of urban ecosystem resilience
Environmental management and policy
Urban ecosystem resilience is a key concern in the strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. This paper uses the principle of range maximization to construct an ecosystem resilience index measurement model from the four dimensions of energy, water...
Environmental policy evaluation from the perspective of farmers' perception in arid oasis ecosystem: Experiences of Minqin, Northwest China
Environmental management and policy
Effective eco-environment rehabilitation is an essential policy issue in arid oasis ecosystem. Since 2007, a policy which focuses on environment restoration and protection was implemented in the Shiyang River Basin of Gansu Province, China. Using Minqin oasis as a case, the effectiveness of policy...
Impacts of rainfall changes on groundwater balance of coastal aquifers: a case study of the Thermaikos Gulf, North Greece
Hydrology and Water Resources Management
Groundwater is one of the major parameters in maintaining ecology in many regions. As climate is one of the main factors which affects groundwater resources, the main objective of the present study is to assess the impact of rainfall changes on the groundwater system by projecting the future changes...

Effects of wildfire suppression chemicals on people and the environment
Air pollution and health
Fire agencies worldwide apply millions of gallons of fire suppression chemicals on a broad array of ecosystems. These chemicals are considered to have minimal effects on the health of people who might be exposed to them. Only incidents of skin and eye irritation have been reported as a result of...
Heavy metals risk assessment in water and bottom sediments of ICOLLs in Northern Poland
CEST2017 - Heavy metals in the environment
Natural diversity of intermittently closed and open lakes and lagoons (ICOLLs) depends on mutual interactions of several factors: (i) an impact of sea water and land background; (ii) temporary meteorological situation; (iii) hydrological conditions; and (iv) the shape of lake basin. However, some...
Setting priorities for wildfires suppression policy in Greece, using a relation between yearly burned areas and recovery time
