CORRELATION OF METEOROLOGICAL PARAMETERS TO CHARACTERIZE WIND SITES: A CASE STUDY OF N'GUIGMI, NIGER
Environmental data analysis and modelling
To assess the impact of climate change on wind regimes, we performed a statistical analysis of some meteorological parameters. Indeed, variables such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and insolation are rarely or not considered in the estimation of wind regimes and therefore in the...
Simulation of temperature trends and thermal stresses on a monument under climate change conditions
Climate change
Climate change affects temperature and its variability, creating increased thermal stress on the materials of monuments located outdoors. This study investigates future temperature trends and their impact on the marble of the Triumphal Arch of Galerius in Thessaloniki, Greece, using data from the...
Tourism Climate Comfort Index (TCCI) – An attempt to evaluate the climate comfort for tourism purposes: the example of Serbia
Climate change
This paper proposes one new attempt to formulate a mathematical approach to climate parameters in the context of their complex implications for tourist activities through the tourism climate comfort index (TCCI). This paper also aims to formulate an original and optimal mathematical correlation...
Climate Change and Rural Livelihoods -adaptation and vulnerability in Rajasthan
Climate change
natural resources, is already experiencing the effects of climate change. The region’s climate is projected to become harsher, with increased average temperatures, intensity of rainfall events, and increased variability in space & time of monsoon rains being consistently projected for the region...
Climate Change Impact on the Air Quality: The Portuguese Case
General
The changes in greenhouse gases and aerosols emissions are expected to lead to regional and global changes in temperature, precipitation, and other climate variables. The degree to which human conditions and the natural environment are vulnerable to the potential effects of climate change is a key...
Statistical downscaled local climate model for future rainfall changes analysis: A case study of Hyogo prefecture, Japan
Environmental data analysis and modelling
For decades, climate models have been used to understand the present and historical climates, especially global climate models (GCMs). They are used to understand the interaction between climate system processes and forecast future climates. However, the issue of low resolution and accuracy often...
Deep neural networks for climate relation extraction
Climate change
Climate data composes of time series and space series with unknown. These unknown series contains complex co-variation relations of climate data. The extraction of these relations is essential for further revealing the complex representations between time series and space series in climate data. As...
Local scale simulation of air temperature by a two-step hybrid downscaling approach using regional climate modeling and artificial neural networks
General
The influence of microscale and mesoscale meteorology on the local scale variation of air temperature cannot be correctly simulated by the coarse resolution Global Climate Models. The scope of this work is to develop a hybrid dynamic-statistical downscaling procedure and quantify its predictive...
Urbanizational impact on climatic variables and geographical analysis of physical land use land cover variation of a city using Remote Sensing.
Climate change
Climate change has serious implications foron the rise and variation of the average earth’s temperature, and intensified rainfall. In urban areas, temperatures and intensified rainfall variation are noticeably seenin the city which disrupts the normal life of a living things. Also, it affects the...
Climate Change Adaptation in Urban India An Approach for Inclusive Formulation of Local Adaptation Strategies
Climate change
In Kota, the third largest city of Rajasthan, poverty levels are high in many areas and there is a great need to assess the vulnerability and adaptive capacity of different societal groups and sectors to the impacts of climatic variability and change, and to formulate sustainable planning strategies...
Study of future climatic variations of a teleconnection pattern affecting Eastern Mediterranean
General
A teleconnection pattern has been identified between Eastern Mediterranean and Northwestern Europe in the geopotential fields of the upper troposphere (hereafter will be referred to as EMP) during winter and it seems to play significant role in the large-scale atmospheric circulation over...
Modeling Dryness Severity Using Artificial Neural Network at the Okavango Delta, Botswana
Hydrology and Water Resources Management
Water balance studies in the Okavango Delta indicate that more than 90% of inflow into the Delta is lost through evaporation. This coupled with high climatic variability threatens the ecohydrology of the Delta. Trends indicate decreasing rainfall amounts and increasing temperature at the area of the...
A multi-stage methodology for selecting input variables in ANN forecasting of river flows
General
The scientific community has recognized the necessity for more efficiently selected inputs in artificial neural network models (ANNs) in river flows and has worked on this despite some shortcomings. Moreover, there is none or limited inclusion of ANN inputs coupled with atmospheric circulation under...
Seasonal and interannual coastal wind variability off the central Maluku Islands revealed by satellite oceanography
Environmental data analysis and modelling
The Maluku Islands (henceforth MI) are situated in the northeastern Indonesia. Ocean region off the central MI is pivotal as it provides a course for the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF) through the Lifamatola passage. However, sea surface dynamics off the central MI is unknown until recently due to...
Trends of the daily maximum temperatures in relation with the climatic change and the urbanization in the Athens basin
