1992: B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry from Universidad Complutense of Madrid (Spain)
1994: M.Sc. in Environmental Impact Assessment from University of Wales (United Kingdom).
1999: Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from University of London (Imperial College) and Diploma of Imperial College (DIC).
1998 - 2001: Research Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and in the Department of Chemical Engineering (Imperial College of London).
2001 - 2006: Research Fellow (Programa Ramón y Cajal) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid).
2007 - Present: Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Energy Engineering (School of Industrial Engineering, UPM). I3 award for Research Excellence from Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology in 2007.
Guillermo San Miguel is involved in various teaching programs organized by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo (UIMP). These include: B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering; M.Sc. in Energy Engineering; M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering; M.Sc. in Renewable Energies and the Environment; and M.Sc. in Renewable Energies, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.
He is currently Coordinator and Principal Investigator of Marie Curie Action (FP7-PEOPLE-2012-IRSES) on “Technical and environmental analysis of advanced strategies for the energy valorisation of biomass” and Principal Investigator of Collaborative Project (FP7-ENERGY-2012-1) on “Innovative configuration for a fully renewable hybrid CSP plant”. He has participated in over 20 national and international projects and has published over 50 research papers, books and patents, and collaborates with various international research institutions.
